Translating binary into a visual code

Being a language of only zeros and ones, I think binary is one of the most versatile systems to turn into any number of visual codes.

In this code, zeros are dark, and ones are light. Eight zeros and ones make up a single letter or character, so now that I’ve figured out the spacing, I’ll be drilling 56 holes for fabric-wrapped pieces of dowel.
